RICH SQUARE, NC: Ms. Francine M. Creecy, 95, of Rich Square, NC passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at her residence. Francine Moore was born the fifth of seven children to Yancy and Fannie Badger Moore on September 15, 1919 in Rich Square, North Carolina. Francine enjoyed her young life at home, in the community, and in school where she excelled in academics. After graduating from Rich Square Institute in Rich Square, she attended Elizabeth City State Normal School (now Elizabeth City State University), leaving after three years to marry the love of her life, William S. Creecy, Jr., with whom she enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage before his death in 2005. She and her husband raised their three sons, William, III (Bill), Robert (Bob), and Jerome with unconditional love and support. As both her family and the school (by then, the name had changed to W. S. Creecy High School) grew, the need for a school secretary (today called Administrative Assistant) became apparent. Francine accepted the position, ultimately requiring her to wear many hats in the performance of her duties. After a successful partnership with her husband, the principal, they retired from the Northampton County Public School System in the early 1970s. When her sons were young, she transferred her church membership from Chapel Hill Baptist to First Baptist Church, Rich Square, where her husband and children were already members; she wanted her family to belong to one church. At her beloved First Baptist Church, she attended Sunday School and church services regularly, and was active in several auxiliaries. After retiring, she continued her love of travel through membership (with her husband) in the Happy Golden Club. Francine held genuine concern for the well-being of others. On February 1, 2015, she transitioned into eternity. Those who will celebrate her memory are sons: William S. Creecy, III (Rikki) and Robert F. Creecy; grandchildren: Leah Moss-Vaden (Karl), William S. Creecy, IV, and Nicole Creecy; great-grandchildren: Justin H. Vaden and Maya N. Vaden; sister: DeLois Hatcher, many other family and friends, as well as a number of special friends. (You know who you are). “O Lord our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the Earth!” Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Rich Square, NC, with Rev. Clark, officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
